Making a planned gift is a significant way to ensure that The Hospice of East Texas can continue to serve your community or the community of someone you love for years to come.

A planned gift is just what it says – a gift that requires some planning.  Though most annual gifts are made from cash, planned gifts usually come from other assets acquired over a lifetime such as life insurance, assets in IRAs, real estate or securities.  Many times, planned gifts are the most significant gifts a person is able to make, and often those gifts are made in wills, trusts or estate plans.  

If you are committed to ensuring that The Hospice of East Texas is serving for years to come, you may wish to consider leaving a legacy with a planned gift.    We encourage you to consult with your professional advisors to determine what gift is right for you.  The correct plan for you will balance what is right for you, your family and for your commitment to Hospice of East Texas.

Bequests

Donors who remember Hospice of East Texas with bequests will touch the lives of patients and families for many years to come, through the extraordinary care, compassion and commitment that Hospice of East Texas will continue to offer.

Bequests through wills and estates can help to ensure our financial stability, fund programs, and ensure our ability to serve all who need hospice care, regardless of their financial circumstances.

Fundraising for Hospice of East Texas, including the receipt of bequests, is done through The Hospice of East Texas Foundation.  The Hospice of East Texas Foundation is a nonprofit entity whose mission is to serve as the fundraising arm of The Hospice of East Texas and to manage the permanent assets of The Hospice of East Texas.

 A bequest is one of the simplest ways to provide for Hospice of East Texas’ future and can take many forms.

 You may arrange for Hospice to receive:

• A specific dollar amount
• Specified assets, such as real estate, stocks or personal property
• All or a portion of the remained of your estate, after all other obligations have been taken care of.

If you are preparing a new will, you may include bequest language or you may add a codicil to your present will.  An outright bequest to The Hospice of East Texas Foundation for the benefit of Hospice of East Texas is fully tax-deductible for estate-tax purposes.

Bequest language

The following sample language may be used when discussing a bequest to The Hospice of East Texas with your professional advisors.

Fixed dollar amount

“I give, devise and bequeath the sum of $___ dollars), to The Hospice of East Texas Foundation, 4111 University Blvd, Tyler, TX   75701 to be used in accordance with the charitable purposes of The Hospice of East Texas.”

Stated percent of estate

“I give, devise, and bequeath ____ percent (___%_ of my estate to The Hospice of East Texas Foundation, Tyler, TX   to be used in accordance with the charitable purposes of The Hospice of East Texas.”

Residue of estate

“I give, devise and bequeath all of the rest, residue and remainder (or ___%) of my estate to The Hospice of East Texas Foundation, Tyler, TX   to be used in accordance with the charitable purposes of The Hospice of East Texas.”

General bequest or bequest for specific purposes

The most useful bequest to The Hospice of East Texas Foundation is an unrestricted bequest for the general purposes of Hospice of East Texas.  This permits Hospice to use your gift wherever it is most needed at the time.

If you wish to specify a use for your bequest, we ask that you consult with Hospice of East Texas to insure that the gift you are considering is practicable and appropriate and that Hospice of East Texas can comply with your wishes in the future.
